A drama-filled penalty shoot-out handed Platinum Stars the MTN 8 Cup on Saturday, 28 September 2013 as they took on Orlando Pirates. Drama ensued during the penalty kicks when Orlando Pirates failed to convert three crucial kicks to answer to Platinum Stars’ two successful conversions. It was a tactically charged match, which even saw the miraculous return to action of Andile Jali, who was initially ruled out for a longer period because of a shoulder injury. Although the weather was cold and wet, that didn’t stop the thousands of fans from coming through to support their favourite team. Well done to the Stars’, the MTN 8 Cup is the club’s second since it was promoted in 2003.
