Something you often spot around Durban these days are the many ‘Suppers getting their fitness fix out on the water. Although SUP has been around for quite sometime, it has only recently become a bit of a craze in SA and a very popular pastime for many Durbanites!
If you still don’t know what we are talking about, let’s break it down for you! SUP stands for Stand Up Paddleboarding. It originally started off in Hawaii as an offshoot of surfing, allowing surfers to paddle farther into the ocean than what would normally be possible.
It’s a fantastic way to stay fit and enjoy loads of time out on the water and in the sun! It helps to develop a strong core, and once you’ve tried it out it’s hard not to get hooked by the great feeling of an overall body workout. Many injured sportsmen and women also use it as a way to stay fit and active without putting too much strain on themselves during downtime.
