Former African Champions, Raja Casablanca has been confirmed as Kaizer Chiefs’ opponents in the next round of the CAF Champions League which will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Raja Club Athletic, otherwise known as the Green Devils, are one of Morocco’s most powerful clubs, having participated in the FIFA World Cup and claiming three CAF Champions League titles.
In yesterday’s press conference at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Baxter said:
“North African teams have had a long history of being dominant in the Champions League. However, as Chiefs, we prefer to play against them, as they are often well organised. We struggle against teams that operate in less organised and more spontaneous ways. Raja is a side that is coached well and it has a huge history.”
“Every player wants to reach the highest possible,” Baxter concludes, while referring to how nice it would be if Chiefs can go far in the Champions League this year. “It will therefore be a very focussed team that will enter the field on Saturday.”
Raja Casablanca captain Mohamed Oulhaj responded by saying:
“Looking through the window, I see a beautiful stadium, thanks also to the 2010 World Cup. We will take this game very seriously”.
“Kaizer Chiefs is a big club in South Africa,” adds Raja’s Portuguese coach José Romão. “Like Raja is in Morocco. We come here to win.”
