It seems that 2017 is a year of firsts for Durban! Joining the list is Durban’s very first FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN! The organisers of this popular event, Stillwater Sports, are aiming to highlight some of the East Coast’s most cherished and loved historic and iconic landmarks.
The 10km route will take the runners through the ins and outs of Durban. Moses Mabhida Stadium, People’s Park, Old Fort, Juma Mosque, Durban Maritime Museum, City Hall, Human Rights Memorial Hall and the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry are just some of the landmarks the runners will journey past.
According the the Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, Michael Meyer:
“The 10km Durban route will be fast and flat. Add to the mix near perfect weather conditions, our goal of making this the fastest 10km in the world becomes even more achievable. We will be targeting some big name athletes to race through the streets of Durban in October. South Africa’s best athletes will have another opportunity to race against the World’s Best, ultimately uplifting the standard of South Africa’s middle distance running. We look forward to welcoming runners to an unforgettable event that encourages all to ‘Run the 031’.”
