This just in, Bidvest Wits is bringing their big Absa Premiership game against Orlando Pirates to Durban! The Clever Boys will take on the Buccaneers at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 21 September.
According to Bidvest Wits Director of Football, Roy Limongelli, the decision to move the game to the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium was due to renovations at Bidvest Stadium:
“There are some renovations that have to be done at Bidvest Stadium before we can host the big teams there. Smaller crowds are okay, but renovations have to be done for bigger crowds,” Limongelli explained to KickOff.com. “The renovations haven’t been done as yet, so until that is sorted we can’t play any of Sundowns, Pirates or Chiefs there. We did put it out there [that Wits needed a new venue] and Moses Mabhida Stadium gave us the best option.”
The Clever Boys are currently second on the table, trailing behind Kaizer Chiefs. Orlando Pirates are sitting at number 10. Watch this space for ticket details!
